Privacy policy
Last updated 7 September 2026The short version: we ask for as little as we can, we don't sell anything about you to anybody, and your stitching is yours.
1. Who we are
WipCount is a mobile app for tracking cross-stitch progress, published by Amvyra Pty Ltd (ABN 43 454 483 890), trading as Crafty Adventures, of 8 Wattlevale Place, Ulladulla NSW 2539, Australia. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean that business, and "the app" means WipCount on Android, iPhone or iPad.
We are responsible for the personal information described here. If you want to talk to us about any of it, the address is in section 12.
2. What we collect
If you never sign in
You can install the app and use it for your free month without telling us anything. In that case we hold no personal information about you at all. Your patterns and your stitching sit on your own device.
The app does store a random identifier on your device to keep track of when the free month started. It is not linked to you, your name or your email, and it never leaves the device unless you sign in.
If you sign in
| What | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Your email address, and your name if your account has one | From Google or Apple when you tap Sign in. We never see or store a password |
| Your stitching — projects, which squares are done, when each was completed, your folders, tags, notes and stash lists | From your use of the app, backed up so you can't lose it |
| Pattern files you have imported | Backed up for subscribers, so patterns come down to a new device |
| Whether you have a current subscription, and which store it came from | From Google Play or the App Store |
| Basic technical information — device type, operating system version, app version, and error reports if the app crashes | From the app, to work out what broke |
What we never collect
- Card and payment details. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play or the App Store. Your card never touches us and we never see the number
- Your contacts, photos, microphone or location
- Anything about you for advertising. There are no ads in WipCount and no advertising trackers
3. Why we collect it
- To back up and sync your stitching — so a broken phone doesn't cost you months of work, and your tablet shows the same progress as your phone
- To know you're a subscriber — including when you're on a different device or a different app store from the one you paid on
- To answer you when you write in
- To fix faults — crash reports tell us what went wrong and on what kind of device
We do not sell your personal information, and we never will. We don't share it for anyone else's advertising either.
4. Who else sees it
Only the companies that run the machinery behind the app:
| Who | What for |
|---|---|
| Google (Firebase) | Sign-in, storage of your backed-up stitching, and crash reports |
| Google Play and Apple | Selling and managing subscriptions. They tell us whether a subscription is current; they don't tell us your card details |
| Google Workspace | Receiving and replying to your support emails |
Each of these is bound to use the information only to provide that service to us. We would also disclose information if the law required it — a court order, for instance — or to protect someone's safety.
If the business is ever sold or merged, information may pass to the new owner, who would be bound by this policy. We'd tell you before that happened.
5. Where it's stored
Your backed-up information is held on Google's Firebase servers in
Sydney, Australia (australia-southeast1). If you live
somewhere else, that means your information is stored outside your own country.
Google's data centres are protected by industry-standard safeguards, and Google is contractually bound to protect the information it holds for us.
6. How long we keep it
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Your stitching progress and backed-up pattern files, while you subscribe | Kept for as long as your subscription runs |
| The same, if you stop subscribing | 12 months from the day the subscription ended, then removed — progress and pattern files alike. Resubscribe inside that year and it all comes back. After it, you still have your own phone's copy and the original pattern files you bought |
| Anything from your free month | Nothing is uploaded during the free month, so there is nothing to keep |
| A project you deleted | Held in Recently deleted for 30 days, then gone everywhere |
| Support emails | 2 years |
| Crash reports | 90 days |
| Records of subscriptions you paid for | 7 years, as tax law requires |
| If you delete your account | Everything above goes straight away, apart from the tax records |
If you ask us to delete your account, see the deletion page for exactly what goes and what has to stay.
7. Your rights
Whatever country you're in, you can ask us to:
- Show you what we hold about you
- Correct anything that's wrong
- Delete your account and your information — see the deletion page
- Give you a copy in a form you can take elsewhere. You can also export your progress yourself from inside the app, at any time, without asking us
Write to privacy@wipcount.com. We'll reply within 30 days. There's no charge.
If we've got something wrong and you aren't happy with our answer, you can complain to the regulator: in Australia, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner; in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EU, your national data protection authority.
8. Keeping it safe
- Everything travelling between the app and our servers is encrypted
- Stored information is encrypted by Google at rest
- You sign in through Google or Apple, so there's no WipCount password for anyone to steal
- Only the people who need it can reach the live system, and it's kept separate from the version we develop against
No system is perfectly safe. If information of yours were ever exposed in a way likely to cause you harm, we'd tell you and the regulator, as the law requires.
9. Children
WipCount is meant for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we'll remove it.
10. This website
This site is plain pages of text and pictures. It sets no cookies, runs no advertising trackers, and does not follow you around the internet.
Our hosting provider keeps basic server logs — the sort of thing every web server records, such as the page requested and the time. These are used for security and to keep the site running.
11. Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when the app changes, and the date at the top will change with it. If a change matters to you — if we started collecting something new, for instance — we'd tell you in the app rather than quietly editing the page.
