Delete your account and data
This page is for WipCount, the cross-stitch tracking app published by Amvyra Pty Ltd (ABN 43 454 483 890), trading as Crafty Adventures. You can ask us to delete your account and everything we hold about you, and you don't need the app installed to do it.
Please read this first. Deleting your account erases your backed-up stitching progress and any pattern files you had backed up. It happens straight away and there is no undo — years of recorded work cannot be brought back. If you only want to stop paying, cancel the subscription instead — that leaves your work alone.
How to ask for deletion
In the app
Open the menu, choose Cloud backup, and tap Delete my account. You'll be asked to confirm twice — deliberately, because there's no undo and it happens immediately.
By email — if you no longer have the app
Email privacy@wipcount.com with the subject Delete my account, and include:
- The email address you used to sign in to WipCount
- Whether you signed in with Google or with Apple
Please send it from that same email address if you still can. It is how we confirm the account is yours — we won't delete someone's stitching on the say-so of a stranger. If you can't, we'll ask you a couple of questions instead.
What gets deleted
Everything tied to your account is removed:
- Your account itself, and the email address and name that came from your Google or Apple sign-in
- All your backed-up stitching progress — every square you marked or unpicked, and when
- Any pattern files you had backed up, and their names
- The notes that tell your other devices a project was deleted
What was never on our servers in the first place
WipCount keeps very little. These have always lived only on your own phone or tablet, so there is nothing of them for us to delete:
- Your thumbnails, folders, tags, favourites and notes
- Your stash — threads, fabrics, kits and your own lists
- Your app settings and preferences
About your pattern files. If you subscribe, WipCount backs up the charts you import as well as your stitching, so that a new phone comes back whole without you having to find and re-import everything. We store the file and its name, and nothing else about it. On the free month nothing is uploaded at all.
Your patterns are yours. We do not read them, share them, or show them to anyone else, and deleting your account removes them along with everything else.
Deleting one pattern, not everything
You don't have to close your account to remove something. Deleting a single pattern inside the app removes that pattern's file, its name and all of its backed-up stitching from our servers — and from your other devices — while leaving the rest of your account exactly as it was. It happens the moment you delete it, and there is no email to send.
How long it takes
Straight away. Your account, your backed-up stitching and any pattern files you had backed up are all removed at once.
There is no undo, and no grace period. Once it is done we cannot bring any of it back, even if you ask us the same day. Please be sure before you send the request — and if you only want to stop paying, cancel the subscription instead and keep the account.
Whatever is on your own phone is not touched. Your patterns and your stitching stay there exactly as they are; it is only the backed-up copy that goes.
Copies inside our routine system backups are overwritten in the normal cycle and are fully gone within 90 days.
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription
These are two separate things, and this catches people out. Subscriptions are held by Google Play or the App Store, not by us, so only they can stop the payments. If you want the billing to end, cancel it there as well — deleting your WipCount account on its own will leave you still being charged.
What we have to keep, and why
| What | How long | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Purchase and tax records for a subscription you paid for | 7 years | Australian tax law requires it. It's a record of the transaction, not your stitching |
| A note that this account was deleted | Ongoing | So we can show the deletion was carried out if we're ever asked |
Neither of these contains your patterns or your progress. Note also that Google and Apple hold their own records of any purchase you made — those are theirs, not ours, and deleting your WipCount account doesn't touch them.
What stays on your own device
Deleting your account does not reach into your phone or tablet. Anything saved there stays there until you uninstall the app or delete it yourself. To clear it completely, uninstall WipCount from each device once the account is gone.
Take a copy first if you want one
If there's any chance you'll want your stitching later, export it before you delete. In the app, open a project and choose Export progress — you'll get a file you can keep. It can be imported back into WipCount at any time in the future.
Anything else about your data is covered in the privacy policy, or you can just ask us.
